I'm so glad that you've made it to my little piece of home here on the internet. I highly recommend pouring yourself a cup of coffee and taking a look around - there's a lot of pretty here!

Hi, I'm Megan.

Su & Dan’s Colorful Wedding Day at Riverside on the Potomac

May 5, 2021

Su & Dan’s wedding day at Riverside on the Potomac was definitely one for the books.

Their planner, Linnie, and I had been checking the weather insesently - crossing our fingers for the weather to hold out long enough for the their much desired outdoor ceremony. A few minutes before Su arrived from getting ready, the forecast made up its mind - it was going to rain.

Linnie and the rest of the amazing vendors (check them out at the end of this blog) got to work on the rain plan - and Su & Dan finished getting ready for their ceremony.

Su’s florals were insane you guys. I mean - the bridal bouquets were floral cuffs. AND THEY WERE AMAZING! I want one for every day use - seriously.

Su looked beautiful in her sari, and the smell of fresh jasmine hung in the air. Fresh jasmine is pinned onto the bride, the bridesmaids, and the mother of the bride & groom’s hair. It is the most beautiful smell.

Su & Dan had a blended ceremony, steeped in tradition, family, and love. It was beautiful - and after Su’s vows to Dan, well there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

After the ceremony, Su changed into her reception dress, and we walked down to the cutest little cabin like chapel on the Riverside on the Potomac property. My hope was that the cropping of trees, and the porch, would give us some shelter from the rain. After we started taking bridal portraits we were graced with a break from the rain. Su & Dan took this opportunity to share a dance as husband and wife.

The bride & groom chose to stay tucked away until their reception started. Su was eager to have these radish tacos that Purple Onion Catering makes - and we made sure that she had a few!

Su’s parents began the reception with a toast that was truly beautiful. Dan’s mother followed Su’s parents - and her welcome toast was just as beautiful.

The couple had two buffet options for dinner - both a South Indian option, and an American cuisine option. Both were insanely delicious!!!

After dinner, Su’s sister made a toast that was funny & thoughtful. She was followed up by two of Su’s best friends - who commented on Su’s love of Lord of the Rings and other personal stories that just caused Su’s face to light up!

Su & Dan shared their First Dance to the Adele’s Make You Feel My Love. I was a mess as soon as it started (it’s number 2 on my personal list for first dance options). They smiled and joked amongst each other while they spun around the floor. Their family looking on in love.

Su & Dan then danced the night away with friends & family. They enjoyed the most delicious cake I’ve ever had, and a drink called a mango lassi. If you’ve never had one - you need to - because it is delicious!

Su & Dan - thank you so much for allowing me to document such a beautiful day in your lives!!! Love you guys!
